Daily General Analysis

January 7, 2025

Browsing through recent financial and technological news, some events caught my attention, directly impacting the market and investment decisions. Nvidia had its worst day in months, losing over $200 billion in market value. On the other hand, we had a great year for six of the "Magnificent Seven", including Nvidia itself, Meta, Tesla, Amazon, Alphabet, and Apple, emphasizing the continuous influence of tech giants on the market.

Another highlight is the surprising growth of Vietnam's GDP in 2024, reaching over 7% with even higher expectations for 2025. This type of growth positions the country as a leader among fast-growing economies in Asia.

In the cryptocurrency field, five companies obtained MiCA licenses in the Netherlands and Malta, marking a significant step in industry regulation in Europe, while Bitcoin saw its value surpass $100k again, suggesting a trend of increasing confidence in the asset as a store of value, especially with the prospect of a crypto-friendly Trump administration in the US.

The geopolitical sphere is also vibrant, with the ban of TikTok in the US bringing Apple and Google into the tension between the US and China, and the designation of Tencent as a Chinese military company by the US Department of Defense, indicating growing distrust and rivalry between the two superpowers.

The financial and technological landscape of 2025 reveals significant opportunities and risks. Nvidia, despite the recent setback, remains a valuable long-term bet in the AI field, along with PLTR and AVGO, given the growing demand for emerging technologies. Vietnam's impressive performance suggests that frontier and emerging markets, especially in Asia, may offer robust growth opportunities. Investing in these regions or in ETFs tracking their performance may be a wise strategy.

The increasing adoption of cryptocurrencies and the possibility of favorable regulation in the US under the Trump administration may further strengthen the value of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, making them interesting speculative investments for portfolio diversification, especially in a scenario of geopolitical and inflationary uncertainty.

On the other hand, the growing geopolitical tension between the US and China, especially regarding technology and national security, requires caution. Companies like Apple, Google, and Tencent may face significant headwinds, depending on the development of these tensions. Investors should closely monitor these situations and be prepared to quickly adjust their portfolios.

Finally, the merger of Disney with FuboTV and the immediate positive cash flow outlook indicate a potentially undervalued opportunity in the streaming and digital entertainment sector. The combination of premium content with innovative live streaming technology could create a giant in the entertainment space, making FuboTV stocks (and by extension, Disney) especially attractive to investors looking for growth.

In summary, the current scenario is rich in opportunities, but also full of risks. Investors should consider diversifying into technology and emerging markets, while keeping a portion in safe assets such as regulated cryptocurrencies and gold, especially given geopolitical uncertainty and potential market volatility.
