Daily General Analysis

January 10, 2026

Coffee is strong, and so is the market. Let's get straight to what matters. Here are the facts that will move prices in the coming weeks, from the hottest to the most structural.

Today's Insights

1. Geopolitics Heats Up: War Looms in Gaza and Protests in Iran

Fact: Israel and Hamas are preparing to resume intense fighting in Gaza, while Iran faces massive protests due to the economic crisis and currency devaluation.

My Move: I Would Buy protective and energy assets. In a scenario of renewed Middle East tension, oil (WTI, Brent) and gold (GLD) are natural safe havens. Defense stocks (like LMT - Lockheed Martin) also benefit.

Impacted Assets/Sectors: Oil (WTI, CL=F), Gold (GLD, GOLD3 on B3), Defense/Aerospace Stocks (LMT, NOC), Regional Country Currencies.

2. Trump Accelerates in Venezuela: $100 B and Repsol Triples

Fact: The Trump administration announces a $100 billion plan with oil companies to rebuild Venezuela's infrastructure, with Repsol ready to triple its production in the country.

My Move: I Would Buy exposure to oil, but selectively. The news is bullish for crude in the long term (more supply coming), but the immediate focus is on companies with operations in the country. Repsol (REP.MC) is the most obvious. American oil companies like Chevron (CVX) can also benefit.

Impacted Assets/Sectors: Repsol (REP.MC), International Oil Companies with Venezuela exposure (CVX), Energy ETF (XLE), Brent Oil Price.

3. DRAM: Samsung and SK Hynix Lead 70% Price Increase

Fact: The Korean memory giants, Samsung and SK Hynix, plan to increase DRAM contract prices for servers by 60-70% in the first quarter, driven by insatiable AI demand.

My Move: I Would Buy memory semiconductor manufacturers. This is a sign of extraordinary pricing power. Samsung (005930.KS) and SK Hynix (000660.KS) are the direct plays. Semiconductor ETFs (SOXX) also capture the momentum.

Impacted Assets/Sectors: Samsung Electronics (005930.KS), SK Hynix (000660.KS), Micron (MU), Semiconductor ETFs (SOXX, SMH).

4. EU and Mercosur: Historic Agreement Moves Forward

Fact: European Union member states have finally agreed to sign the free-trade agreement with Mercosur, after more than 25 years of negotiation.

My Move: I Would Buy exposure to Brazil and Argentina, focusing on exporters. This is a long-term structural catalyst. Sectors like agribusiness (BOE.SA, VALE3 for iron ore), protein (BRFS3, JBSS3), and steel (GGBR4) are major beneficiaries. ETFs like EWZ also gain.

Impacted Assets/Sectors: iShares MSCI Brazil ETF (EWZ), Brazilian Agribusiness Stocks (BOE.SA, VALE3), Real/Dollar Exchange Rate, European Consumer Stocks with Mercosur exposure.

Where to Put Your Money Now & Where to Be Cautious

Immediate Opportunities
  • Memory is Gold: Get into Samsung (005930.KS) or SK Hynix (000660.KS) to ride the wave of rising prices and AI demand.
  • Oil with a Catalyst: Position in Repsol (REP.MC) or CVX as a play on Venezuela's reopening, with the bonus of geopolitical tension.
  • Mercosur in Sight: Increase exposure to Brazil via EWZ or pure export plays like BOE.SA, before the market fully prices in the agreement.
  • Geopolitical Hedge: Allocate a small portion to gold (GLD) or oil (USO) as insurance against escalation in the Middle East.
Risks on the Radar
  • Gunpowder in the Middle East: An open war in Gaza could send oil soaring and tank global risk markets. Stay alert.
  • Venezuela is a Bet: The $100 billion plan is huge and depends on political stability that doesn't yet exist. Expect volatility.
  • China Bucking the Trend: China's aggressive energy strategy could create oversupply in renewables and batteries, pressuring margins for sector companies worldwide.
  • Trump's Rhetoric: Statements about Greenland increase friction with China/Russia, adding unpredictability to global trade.
