April 25, 2026

Wall Street Coffee – April 26, 2026 Edition

Folks, pull up a chair because the landscape is heavy. Geopolitics on fire in the Middle East, money pouring into AI, and a multi-billion dollar bailout for Ukraine. Let’s get straight to what really moves the portfolios.

1. US Burns Through Missile Stockpile in Iran

The Fact: A CSIS study indicates the US has already consumed over half its pre-war stockpile of key missiles (like Tomahawks) in the conflict with Iran.

I Would Reduce exposure to short-term defense contracts, as the news suggests possible slow replenishment and budgetary pressure.

  • Assets/Sectors: Lockheed Martin (LMT), RTX Corporation (RTX), Northrop Grumman (NOC), Oil & Gas (potential logistical disruption).
2. Second Aircraft Carrier in the Strait of Hormuz

The Fact: The US sends a second aircraft carrier to block the Strait of Hormuz and bars 34 ships, increasing the risk of escalation with Iran.

I Would Hold positions in oil (WTI, Brent), but with a tight stop. The blockade could send the barrel price soaring at any moment.

  • Assets/Sectors: Petrobras (PBR), Exxon Mobil (XOM), Petroleo Brasileiro (PETR4), Maritime freight insurers.
3. Intel Surges 24% and US Government Quadruples Bet

The Fact: Intel (INTC) had its biggest jump since 1987 (+24%), driven by strong results and the US government quadrupling its investment from $9 billion to nearly $27 billion in gains.

I Would Buy INTC on the dip. The company has turned the corner with an injection from Nvidia and political backing, becoming a central piece of the US chip re-industrialization.

  • Assets/Sectors: Intel (INTC), Nvidia (NVDA), AMD (AMD), Semiconductor ETFs (SMH).
4. Google Puts $40B into Anthropic; Global AI Reaches $5.2T

The Fact: Google (Alphabet) will invest up to $40 billion in Anthropic, and a study indicates global AI investments should total $5.2 trillion by 2030.

I Would Buy exposure to big AI techs, especially GOOGL and AMZN (which also invested in Anthropic). The capital flow into the sector is overwhelming.

  • Assets/Sectors: Alphabet (GOOGL), Amazon (AMZN), Microsoft (MSFT), Alibaba (BABA) (AI odds up 15%).
5. EU Approves $106B Loan for Ukraine

The Fact: The European Union releases a $106 billion war loan to cover 2/3 of Ukraine's needs for 2026-2027, preventing a fiscal collapse.

I Would Hold short-term European sovereign bonds and European defense stocks, as the package shows the bloc's fiscal commitment.

  • Assets/Sectors: Rheinmetall (RHM.DE), German Bund (bonds), Reconstruction companies (e.g., Saint-Gobain), Gold (geopolitical hedge).
6. Iran Reactivates Missile Bunkers Near US Forces

The Fact: Iran has reactivated missile depots near areas of US troop concentration, raising the risk of a preemptive strike or retaliation.

I Would Reduce exposure to cryptocurrencies in the short term, as the US Treasury has frozen $344 million in assets linked to Iran, increasing regulatory pressure.

  • Assets/Sectors: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Crypto mining companies, Oil (again).

Immediate Opportunities
  • Buy Intel (INTC) on the dip: the US government has become a de facto partner. The company now has the firepower to compete with TSMC and Samsung.
  • Increase position in GOOGL and AMZN: the Anthropic investment seals the AI war. Companies with cash and long-term vision win.
  • Oil (WTI) via call options: Strait of Hormuz blockade + military replenishment = upward price pressure.
  • European defense (RHM.DE): the EU's $106B loan is a clear signal that Europe will spend heavily on armaments.
