財政司司長陳茂波說，美國聯儲局4年半以來首度下調息率，聯邦基金利率的目標區間下調半厘，降到4.75至5厘，減息幅度符合市場預期。他說，減息周期啟動，可望為本港經濟帶來審慎正面的影響。 陳茂波在社交專頁說，在聯繫匯率下，本港的利率走勢大致會跟隨美國利率走勢，原本偏緊的資金狀況有望逐步轉為較寬鬆，有助減輕企業經營的壓力，支持固定資產投資。其次，隨著美國減息，港元匯率亦將稍為回軟，有助吸引旅客，有利本地的消費和零售餐飲生意。
