Today's Radar: What's Moving the Market

Hey everyone! Got your coffee? Because the day is hot: oil surging, AI breaking records, and a window of opportunity opening up in Latin America. Let's get to what matters.

1. Oil at $109: The Barrel Became an Inflation Bomb

Brent surged past $109 due to increased attacks on ships in the Gulf, and diesel in the U.S. has already jumped 61%, hitting $5.98 a gallon.

I Would Reduce exposure to energy-intensive and transportation sectors now. Inflation will be back on the Fed's menu, and that hurts anyone who depends on cheap fuel.

Impacted assets: XLE (energy sector, benefiting), IYT (transportation, under pressure), DAL (airlines), XOM (Exxon, tailwind).

2. Oracle Explodes with AI: Cloud Is the Golden Goose

Oracle's revenue grew 30% in the quarter, its contract backlog hit $664 billion, and the stock jumped 7% on insatiable demand for AI computing.

I Would Buy Oracle (ORCL) without blinking. The company is no longer "that database company" and has become a central cloud and AI player. The market is still pricing this in slowly.

Impacted assets: ORCL, NVDA (GPU supplier), MSFT (competitor, but sector is hot), AMZN (AWS in the same boat).

3. Nvidia: Jensen Promises 70% Growth and It's Not Just Talk

Jensen Huang said at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia conference that Nvidia will grow 70% next year, with AI dominating everything and no circular deals.

I Would Hold Nvidia (NVDA) in the portfolio, but with a tight stop. Growing 70% is beautiful, but the stock already prices in a lot of perfection. If you're in, hold; if you're out, wait for a pullback.

Impacted assets: NVDA, AMD (competitor), TSM (chip manufacturer), SOXX (semiconductor ETF).

4. Latin America Ready for Takeoff, Says Citi

Citi points out that Latin America is "ready for takeoff" with the shift from left-wing governments to more market-friendly administrations, aligning favorable tailwinds.

I Would Buy exposure to LatAm via ETFs and Brazilian stocks. The political window is opening, and valuation is still attractive compared to developed markets. It's a medium-term bet, but with positive asymmetry.

Impacted assets: EWZ (Brazil ETF), ILF (LatAm ETF), VALE (mining), ITUB (banks).

5. GTA 6: 5 Million Pre-Orders and Counting

GTA 6 has already accumulated 5.28 million global pre-orders, with 77% on PlayStation, generating nearly $516 million before it even launches.

I Would Buy Take-Two (TTWO). The game will be a revenue monster, and the market underestimates the multiplier effect of post-launch microtransactions. It's the "Marvel event" of gaming.

Impacted assets: TTWO, SONY (PlayStation owner), MSFT (Xbox playing catch-up), ESPO (gaming ETF).

6. Dangote Refinery: IPO on the Radar with $600B Projection

IPMAN is encouraging members to invest in the Dangote Refinery IPO, with economist Bismarck Rewane projecting the refinery could boost Nigeria's economy to $600 billion by 2030.

I Would Keep caution. The story is good, but a refinery IPO in emerging markets brings political, currency, and execution risk. If you have the stomach for volatility, it could be an interesting bet. Otherwise, stay out.

Impacted assets: Nigeria's energy sector, AFK (Africa ETF), SHEL (Shell, regional competitor), XLE (global energy sector).

Immediate Opportunities
  • Energy: XLE and XOM benefit directly from oil above $100.
  • AI and Cloud: ORCL and NVDA remain the growth core.
  • LatAm: EWZ and ILF with attractive valuation and political tailwind.
  • Gaming: TTWO ahead of GTA 6's launch.
Risks on the Radar
  • Inflation and the Fed: High oil could force U.S. rate hikes, pressuring growth stocks.
  • Geopolitics: Gulf tensions could escalate and cause an even larger supply shock.
  • AI Concentration: If growth slows, a correction in NVDA and ORCL could be brutal.
